What will your donation be used for?
As a charitable tax-exempt organization, we depend on the generous financial support of individuals and corporations like you, that recognize the value of safe water on tap. We would like to invite you to join our community of supporters.
In 2022, AguaClara Reach released the first water treatment plant designs created using the AguaClara Infrastructure Design Engine (AIDE). Achieving this milestone has opened the door to begin connecting with a growing number of potential implementation partners. We’ve also utilized AIDE to respond to new challenges from our current implementation partners, Agua Para el Pueblo and Gram Vikas.
In 2023, we will continue to invent new solutions for our Implementation Partners. We are focusing on ideas that will advance equity, improve hygiene, and provide reliable and safe water on tap. We’ve learned from the 23 AguaClara water treatment plants that have already been built that providing high quality service to the households in a community makes our water treatment plants so desirable that communities keep them well maintained and operating. We continue our focus on designs that use generic parts, are climate friendly, and that will continue to work for many decades.
Opportunities and plans for 2023 include:
Capacity Building: AguaClara Reach will continue to foster relationships with its global implementation partners Gram Vikas and Agua Para el Pueblo, while developing new partnerships and projects to bring safe water on tap to more communities.
Design and Innovation: AguaClara Reach will:
Improve AIDE (adding more details to our design tool)
Invent more solutions in collaboration with our partners
Provide detailed customized designs to our partners as they are needed
Research and Education: AguaClara Reach will further its research and education strategic direction through major initiatives with Ohio State University (OSU), the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), and Cornell University. We will advise student research projects and guide OSU student capstone projects. Additionally, Dr. Monroe Weber-Shirk will teach the Safe Water on Tap course at OSU and NJIT.
This work takes capital, as does AguaClara Reach’s training and support in future projects. With the generous donations from supporters like you, AguaClara Reach will be able to meet all of these milestones and opportunities to reach even more people with safe and affordable drinking water on tap. Innovation in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene sector is often limited by the inability to invent and pilot new technologies. We have proven that technologies that are designed with the communities in mind can transform those communities. Your support can enable us to pilot more innovations so that the innovations can be adopted and spread.
